Kristin Havranek

Kristin brings nearly 30 years of deep experience in the medtech industry. Kristin works with her clients to strategically build and manage IP portfolios that align with their business goals. She counsels growth-stage and emerging companies developing cardiovascular implants and delivery systems, diagnostics, digital health, drug-eluting devices, drug pumps and injection devices, electromediated drug delivery devices, embolic protection devices, heart valves, imaging systems, microfluidic devices, neuromodulation products, ophthalmics, orthopedics, robotic devices, tissue engineering, software, and AI-driven devices. She also works with investors, assessing the value and risks associated with IP of potential investments.
Before becoming a lawyer, Kristin worked as a senior engineer in the medtech industry, developing drug-eluting stents and self-expanding peripheral vascular stents and delivery systems; breast implants and solid molded products for cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries; assays for enzyme replacement therapies; and endoscopy products.
Kristin shares her expertise as a seminar instructor on IP law at UC San Diego. Since 2020, she has served as a Co-Chair of the Mentoring Program at MedtechWomen.
Outside of work, Kristin is a proud mom of two teenagers and two dogs. She enjoys hiking and biking, beach days, boating in Lake Arrowhead, and exploring San Diego’s food scene with family and friends.
