Stephanie Dusaban Gonzales

Stephanie Dusaban Gonzales, Ph.D., brings nearly 25 years of experience in life sciences. Using her scientific expertise, Stephanie works closely with her clients to strategically build and manage IP portfolios that align with their business goals. She counsels emerging and growth-stage companies focused on small molecules, antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, RNA-based therapeutics, gene therapies, gene editing therapeutics, oncolytic viruses, peptide-based therapies, epigenetics, and cell-based agriculture. She also works closely with investors to spin out new companies and diligence companies in advance of investment.
Stephanie has ten-plus years of biomedical research experience in pharmacology, cell signaling, drug discovery and translational medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Her Ph.D. and postdoctoral work focused on G-protein coupled receptor signaling in astrocytes and its role in inflammation in the Central Nervous System. In doing so, she employed primary cell culture, disease animal models (Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis and traumatic brain injury), and advanced imaging (FRET). She co-chaired the Gordon Research Seminar for graduate student and post-doctoral fellows with keynote speaker Nobel Prize winner Brian Kobilka.
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her three kids and three dogs in her San Diego home. She is working on convincing her skeptical (but probably right) husband that they need a fourth dog. Beyond chasing the kids and dogs around, she enjoys hiking the scenic trails of Torrey Pines and San Elijo, spending time at the beaches of Fletcher’s Cove, spending the day at the zoo, and being a soccer mom. She also enjoys baking with the kids and one day hopes to open a bakery, for which she would be the Chief Strategist.
